The tender for the large district heating project in Kozani has been extended.
The tender for the large project “Transmission & Interconnection Pipelines of the Kozani District Heating Facility with the Unified Interconnected District Heating Network of Western Macedonia” has been moved to May 30, 2024, while the opening of bids is now scheduled for June 6, 2024.
The Contracting Authority is the Municipal Water Supply and Sewerage Company of Kozani.
The considered project refers to the construction of the transmission pipeline system for the interconnection of the Kozani district heating facility with the thermal energy production facilities of PPC to be built at the Kardia NPP site and extends between D.D. Drepanou – D.D Kozani and AIS Kardia.
The object of the project
With this project, the Kozani district heating facility is functionally connected to the Kozani-Ptolemaida-Amyntaio Single Interconnected district heating system with the aim of ensuring the coverage of district heating energy needs in Western Macedonia both during the transitional stage and after the withdrawal of the existing lignite units of the region in implementation of the National Plan for Energy and Climate.
The project includes the construction of a system of underground steel factory-insulated superheated water transport pipelines in accordance with the European standard ΕΝ 13941:2019 from the production facilities and the transfer pump station within AIS/PPC Kardia to the central transfer & distribution pump stations of the Kozani district heating facility in Kasla area city of Kozani.
The nominal thermal power transfer capacity is predicted to rise to 195MWth, taking into account the current peak of the Kozani district heating system, as well as the thermal demand due to the future expansions of the system in Kozani and neighboring settlements.
