The new fashion in car theft has come to Greece – What trick do thieves use?

A new hi-tech method of car theft that he had previously known great popularity abroad has made its appearance in recent months in Greece, causing headaches for both car owners and police authorities.

This is the method in which by using special devicesthe coils interfere with the vehicle locking process. In simple words, when the user tries to lock his car through the wireless key, the eatonichas, through special devices, prevent the signal from reaching the receiver inside the vehicle.

So the car remains unlockedconstituting easy prey for eagle claws. They enter the cabin undisturbed either in order to remove valuable items, or to carry out the total theft of IX.

This method seems to have been followed by one 63-year-old foreigner who operated in his commercial park “Eleftherios Venizelos”, looting parked cars.

As ELAS announced, the 63-year-old was arrested in the context of the autoforo, her afternoon hours Friday (19/4) in her area Cell by police officers of the Security Department of the Athens Airport Police Department.

The defendant in her midday hours Thursday (18/4) removed from vehiclewhich was parked in the commercial park of the Athens airport, amount of money and clothing.

From the preliminary investigation it emerged that the accused was approaching his target vehicles and at the moment when the drivers got out of them he started jamming machine, preventing their locking.

When the drivers got out of their vehicles, the 63-year-old had ample ground to break into their cabs, removing whatever valuables he could find.

After a search of his home in the area of ​​Kypseli, among other things, they found and confiscated:

• 3 frequency interference machines,
• the monetary amount of -5,450- euros, -1,334- US dollars, -20- Australian dollars, -130- German marks and -10,000- drachmas,
• 27 caskets containing many jewels,
• multitude of tools,
• multitude of perfumes, sunglasses, handbags, electronic cigarettes and
• 6 folding knives.

The car he was using for his travels was also confiscated. An additional 2 thefts from vehicles and thefts from a commercial store were solved. The arrested person was taken to the competent Prosecutor.

How to protect myself

As the experts report, every car owner with a wireless key, every time he presses the lock button, must observes carefully if turn on the car’s flashers or if beep sound -both are indications that the IX has locked up.

Of course, it is recommended to check with their hand if the car is locked, checking the door handles, while it is deemed necessary not to leave objects in plain view in the car.
