Criminal prosecution for 28 offenses – including 12 felonies – was brought by the Athens District Attorney’s Office for the case of the murderous attack against the police officer Giorgos Lyggeridis.

Specifically, criminal prosecution was brought for the following charges:

  • Address of a criminal organization.
  • Formation and membership of a criminal organization.
  • Homicide during a sporting event.
  • Moral complicity in homicide during a sporting event.
  • Complicity in homicide during a sporting event.
  • An explosion that also resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Ethical complicity in the explosion that also resulted in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Contributing to the explosion resulting in the death of another during a sporting event.
  • Manufacture of explosive devices for the purpose of illegally supplying organizations with the occasion of a sporting event.
  • Ethical authorship in the manufacture of explosive and incendiary materials which may cause danger to a person on the occasion of a sporting event.
  • Blackmail by threatening to damage another’s business by complicity during a sporting event.
  • Robbery by accomplice and serial with a sports background.
  • Distinctive violence against employees who were in serious danger.
  • Arson from which a common danger to foreign objects may arise during a sporting event.
  • Disturbing the public peace during a sporting event.
  • Damage to foreign property during a sporting event.
  • Dangerous bodily harm against employees and non-employees.
  • Violence against another during a sporting event.
  • Possession of items that can cause bodily harm during a sporting event.
  • Possession of flares and firecrackers during a sporting event.
  • Possession of objects capable of causing bodily harm.
  • Theft by complicity.
  • Illegal gun possession.
  • Illegal carrying of firearms.
  • Follow-up weapon use.
  • Illegal possession of firecrackers.
  • Supply – possession of drugs.
  • Possession of explosive and incendiary materials in connection with a sports organization

The file that has been filed concerns 160 people, of which 67 have been arrested.

The case is referred to the investigation and the further investigation will be undertaken by five investigators. The main file of the criminal organization is taken over by the 9th investigator with assistants on the 22nd and 17th.

But there are the following divisions:

Of the 160 people, 15 are minors. Of those arrested, one is a minor. That part of the case is being assigned to a juvenile investigator.

Seven people charged with criminal organization also have a violation of the drug law. This piece will be separated and go to a narcotics investigator. There will be added seven others who are involved in drug trafficking, without being involved in the criminal organization. Three of them have been arrested.

The case file concerning minors is handled by the 2nd juvenile investigator and the case file concerning drugs by the 4th drug investigator.

Finally, the father of an arrested person is referred to the Autonomous Single-Member Misdemeanor Court.
