The folk theater performance “The Lord of Fataula” by Dionysis Giatras was presented with great success, at the Barry Theater of DIPETHE. Patras, on Saturday April 20, 2024, by the Cultural Association of Skoulikados Zakynthos “O Erotokritos”.
The performance of the “speech” in each role by the actors was excellent with the audience applauding the troupe who sent with all the characteristic idioms of the play’s performance their own messages according to the title “The Fataulas Archont”
Before the performance, the Secretary of the “Erotokritos” Cultural Association, Ourania Plessa, mentioned the history of the Association, thanking the Municipal Authority for hosting Barry on the theater stage.
The President of DIPETHE Lydia Karathanasopoulou welcomed the Association with its troupe, stressing the need to spread the folk culture and traditions of each place, thanking for the cooperation and presentation of the project at DIPETHE Patras.
Deputy Mayor Dionysis Plessas emphasized that for him the joy is special because as he typically said:This is the Cultural Association of my village from Zakynthos, which, continuing the tradition, strives to ensure that our customs and traditions, our folk traditions, are not forgotten and that the younger generations learn by spreading them. The Association and the troupe are to be congratulated for resisting the alienation and commodification of Culture – which in our islands in particular is attempted to the greatest extent – promoting our folk culture”.
In fact, the Deputy Mayor Mr. Dionysis Plessas said in his announcement about the performance:Dear President, dear members of the Board of Directors Warm congratulations for the presentation of the Speech “The Lord of Fataula” at the Theater stage of the Municipal Regional Theater (DIPETHE) of Patras on Saturday, April 20, 2024. The performance was excellent, with its messages and the performance of the roles equally excellent with characteristic idioms and satire in texts by the author of the “speech” Dionysis Giatras. Promote our folk culture and traditions with the Association’s theater group and with your other Cultural actions. Thank you for the cooperation with the DIPETHE of Patras of the Municipality of Patreon and I wish you continued success and strength in the goals of the association”.
The performance was attended by the former President of DIPETHE and member of the Board of Directors. Petros Vais as well as the President of the Zakynthians of Patras, Ilias Varvarigos.
At the end of the show, gifts were offered on both sides with the hope that the cooperation between the two organizations will continue, while earlier the troupe had the opportunity to be shown around the new City Hall in Arsakeio by Deputy Mayor Dionysis Plessas.
