The last month of Spring is coming to Cotton of Laconia and climbs the slopes of Parnon with themed workshops and traditions on the occasion of the Easter celebration in the village. Hiking, robotics, stargazing, massage, dj sets, cooking and programs that bring the whole family togethercomplete a full spring program of activities proposed by Vamvakou Revival as part of the Vamvakou Revival initiative implemented with an exclusive donation from the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF).
Easter in Vamvakou
The month begins (2/5) with Easter games at the Vamvakos school, creative constructions, ping-pong, but also Virtual Reality. Just before the Resurrection (4/5) young and old use their time creatively and paint mugs with Easter designs or take part in a fun organized hike as the cave monastery of Agia Kyriaki, while on Easter Sunday (5/5) is set up Easter Feast in the village square, with food, ovelia, cookies, red eggs from the Voureiko restaurant-cafe and traditional music from the “Dorian rhythm” orchestra. The biggest spring festival closes on Easter Monday and Tuesday with two experiential workshops where children will come into contact with the “autonomous” society of a chicken house (6/5) and they will become little explorers and discover the artistic side of nature through the multisensory game (7/5)while adults can relax enjoying a focus body massage (7/5).
Mayan weekends for everyone in nature
One of the groups participating in the Vamvakou Incubator program, who have started their activity in the village will accompany us (11/5) in a walk for all levels of walkers. The mountain and nature whet the appetite for cotton clothes “Kitchen Picks” (18/5)one cooking class after tasting in the sunny courtyard of the village school. Last Saturday night in May, the astrophysicist Anastasia – Fiori Metallenouwho also participates with her team in the incubation program in Vamvakou, will be our “tour guide” for one evening stargazing (25/5) studying, learning and recognizing key constellations of the spring sky. This month, every Saturday, a different one sets the pace dj set (11, 18 & 25/5)while enjoying the relaxation of the countryside with massage in focused parts of the body (11/5 & 25/5).
STEAM, clay play & free play for kids
Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics meet at V. Lab (Vamvakou Technology Lab fully powered by SNF). One robotics workshop (12/5)will introduce children to the basic principles of engineering and programming, while the construction of water rockets (25/5) which will be launched in the school yard will take them on the most important human missions in space. This month (5/19) we explore our feelings and capture them in clay art works which we will expose in ours “Museum of Emotions” through one clay play Stories. The established School…Otherwise (26/5) where young and old spend their Sunday happily, closes their month and brings summer a breath closer.
