The head of the Hellenic Solution filed a new question, speaking of a serious risk of definitively canceling the reopening of the Corinth-Kalamata section!

Following our submitted question with No. Prot.: 1923/24-01-2023 in the matter of “Gradual reopening of the metric network of Peloponnese” https://www.hellenicparliament.gr/UserFiles/c0d5184d-7550-4265-8e0b078e1bc7375a/12195213.pdf of the reply document from the Railway Organization Greece SA. with No. Prot.: 9004649/27-01-2023 https://www.hellenicparliament.gr/UserFiles/67715b2c-ec81-4f0c-ad6a476a34d732bd/12218450.pdf and the positions of the recently established Movement Committee for the rescue and re-operation of the historic railway of the Peloponnese, we return again, in order to highlight the chronic issue of analgesia and the State’s admonition to intervene drastically and catalytically, so that the Peloponnese railway can be reutilized. As the newly founded Movement argues, a position which we share, “…the risk of the gradual disappearance of the line and the definitive cancellation of its re-operation is now visible, which from Corinth to Kalamata, although renovated at a significant expense, has been under suspension of operation since 2011 ». Additionally and on the subject, we submit questions, which arise from the content of the response document of OSE S.A. and they need an answer, to clarify if the State is doing its duty, implementing its initiatives in reality.

Given all the above,

The Minister is asked:

1. Were all the necessary actions taken for the re-operation of the existing network of Patras – Pyrgos – Kalamata – Tripoli – Nafplio – Corinth, as expected more than a year ago, and if so, what were the actions in question and what was the result of them at the base of the resumption of said network?

2. Was the Tripoli Engine Station upgraded as a central unit for the maintenance of railway equipment of the mentioned network, as was decided?

3. Were the Corinth – Argos – Nafplio and Kato Achaia – Pyrgos axes auctioned, as it was announced that they were “on the path to auction” and given that the implementation of a Feasibility and Viability Study of the single Peloponnese network would be based on the Viability studies of these axes?
