The curtain of the KNE Student Festivals in Western Athens was successfully opened by Petroupoli. The activities, the games and the concerts gave the optimistic message that with KNE in front, the fight can get stronger and the facts can change.

Georgia, a 1st High School student at the city’s EPAL, delivered a greeting at the opening. After welcoming the attendees to the now institution of the Student Festival, he emphasized: “However, it is important that in these competitions the members and friends of KNE take the lead. Because as our slogan says, we fight injustice so that no one is left alone, against governments and their state that put profit above our lives. Against all these parties that serve the European Union, which is behind every choice of the governments, as in the crime of Tempe, the laws on Education, the wars in which our country also participates. This is the truth no matter how much they want to teach us otherwise in school and textbooks and we are fighting against it”, while he underlined: “And we are building tomorrow! As through our Organization we learn how to change the world, because only in this way can injustice, wars and poverty be stopped. Through KNE we “grow up” with the ideals of collectivity and solidarity, we all discuss and decide together. And our current Festival is a proof”.

Antonis, a 3rd High School student, in his speech invited his classmates to think about how much they can change through the organized struggle against a system that breeds crises, wars, monsters, while he also referred to the power of the red vote in the European elections, alone who can frighten the system and its parties. He emphasized that ultimately what every young person must fight for is a society “that does not prepare “Tempe”, but plans to protect the life of the people”.

The students had fun playing “Rook Zook”, while they presented an interesting skit inspired by the stressful everyday life of students, but also the recent big matches against private Universities.

There was a stir when local schoolgirls stood on the Festival stage holding the names of the murdered women, wanting to show their outrage at these crimes. With warm applause, the attendees welcomed the student group that was created to participate in the Festival by combining the talent and passion of children from the high schools of the area. Their acceptance by the public was such that as they stated they are thinking of keeping their music company. At the band’s concert, students from EPAL recited the poems “Silence” and “German War Manual”.

The young group “Enausma Rock Band” took the baton, rousing the audience with their own songs and not only, taking off the evening, which ended with a party with DJ Set.

At the Festival site, the little friends of the Red Balloon drew anti-war sketches and stuck their creations on the “peace tree”. Many people took part in the chess tournament, while in the context of the Festival, the teams that took part in the sports tournament of the previous week were also awarded.
