Nightfall in the forecourt of the Holy Monastery of Leimonos – “Here is a secret sacrifice”

The forecourt of the Holy Monastery of Leimonos was full of people at the big event entitled “Behold the secret sacrifice”, organized yesterday, Monday, April 22, in the evening, by the Municipality of Western Lesvos.

In an overwhelming environment that contributed beyond the sanctity of the space and the lighting of the monumental buildings of the historic monastery, musical and interpretive hymns of the Holy Week, verses of psalms and literary folk texts as well as music and songs in the climate of the days were performed. Special mention should be made of the performance by the well-known great actress Eugenia Dimitropoulou of obituaries and poems, especially those for the Easter days before and after the Cyprus tragedy, 50 years ago.

In addition to the narration by Mrs. Eugenia Dimitropoulou, Christos Chalkias, Evi Gouvali and Andreas Ioakeim interpreted. While accompanied by the orchestra of various music of the Conservatory “GERMANOS O MELODOS”.

The participants in the event were welcomed by the Mayor of Western Lesbos Taxiarchis Verros and the Deputy Mayor for Culture Zaharo Ioakim. Among the others present were the Metropolitan of Mithymni, Mr. Chrysostomos, the Archimandrite, Fr. municipal authority of the Municipality of Western Lesvos.
