The submission of tax returns begins

The activation of the platform for the submission of this year’s tax returns is now a matter of hours.

After the new vote Tax Procedures Code2024 is probably the year where the tax return has pre-filled most of the information whether it concerns the E1 or E3 form.

One of the key changes this year is that around 1 million employees and pensioners, who have no income other than wages and pensions, will not have to submit their tax return themselves, but the tax office itself. However, it would be a good idea to check the information provided to see if there are any errors.

The new minimum presumptive income regimewhich applies for the first time to around 735,000 freelancers and the self-employed, has led the Independent Inland Revenue Authority to make substantial changes, both to tax office forms and internal procedures, in order to correctly fill in the new codes.

Submission extension

But before the tax returns are even openedthe Ministry of Finance has decided to extend at least until the end of July the deadline for completion and submission, due to a delay in opening the relevant AADE platform.

This year’s tax return submission processalthough there will be no substantial changes to the tax forms other than those concerning freelancers, it is significantly different compared to previous years as it is the first time that those with sole income from wages and pensions are given the option not to deal with the filling and the submission of the E1 as all the data will be pre-filled by the Independent Public Revenue Authority.
