The head of the People’s Rally of the Municipality of Tripoli, Mr. Vangelis Gourgaris, spoke on the Municipal Radio of Tripoli and the show “Epi tis oussias”.

Initially speaking about the issue he raised at yesterday’s meeting of the Tripoli municipal council regarding the anti-flood projects that the place needs and also the irrigation of Lake Taka, he emphasized: “Throughout the years, with the legislative interventions of the governments, the Municipalities have turned into state agencies . We, as a People’s Rally, are trying to discuss the key issues that concern our fellow citizens”, while he added: “We submitted a documented proposal on the issue of water management as a whole. It seems that the fact that we raise key problems spoils the image, that everything is going well, but we will not do them a favor”.

At the same time, he emphasized: “The Municipality of Tripoli is unfortified in terms of anti-flood projects”, while he went on to say that the government, with a new unacceptable bill that saw the light of day, is promoting the merger of DEYA, changing the water map in the country.

Finally he said: “While the Taka reservoir has been completed for years the main channels have not yet been connected to the lake. We are fed up with promises, there is no political will. This unacceptable situation cannot continue. We don’t claim what we should, but we plead with those who mock us”.
