Intervention for the construction project

of the Southern Bypass of the city of Mytilene ..

On the occasion of the recent visit of the competent Minister of Infrastructure Mr. Christos Staikouras, in my relevant letter last Tuesday 16/4, I stated the necessity of the project of the Southern Bypass of Mytilini,

The project concerns the construction of a new road axis with a total length of 6.4 km and 8 level junctions to connect with the existing road network and is expected to contribute significantly to facilitating access to the Airport and the wider area, as well as to decongesting traffic within the city . The P/Y of the project is approximately 53 million euros and there is a comprehensive study that has been prepared under the supervision of the Ministry of Infrastructure.

The response of the Minister Mr. Christos Staikouras was immediate. He called me the same day and we discussed the necessity of the project and he pledged that the Ministry will seek the necessary resources to implement the project based on the financial possibilities.

I am glad that there was a relevant reference to the necessity of the project at the event held in Kalloni on Friday in the presence of the Prime Minister.

I wish and hope that with the coordinated efforts of the local agencies, this important project for the island can be launched.
