A large fire is currently underway in Chania at the intersection of the National Road leading to Navsthamos in the area of ​​Souda.

The mobilization of the Fire Service is great with several vehicles from Chania and Vrysses rushing to the scene. There was also a notification from 112 informing about a “forest fire in the area of ​​Naustatmos, Crete”.

The Police are in the area to regulate traffic as access to the National Highway is prohibited after vehicles are driven to Malaxa.

So far, the Fire Department is fighting to prevent the fire from spreading to the Great Fields, as strong winds are blowing in the area.

According to zarpanews.gr, the residences of Naustathmos have been evacuated while the daycare center has also been evacuated, with the children and teachers being transferred to Souda Square.
