Civil Protection planning and actions to deal with risks from forest fires

The planning and actions of the Civil Protection to deal with risks from the occurrence of forest fires, in preparation for the 2024 fire fighting season, were discussed in a broad meeting held on Monday, April 22, 2024 in the Region of Western Macedonia under the Regional Governor of Western Macedonia Giorgos Amanatidis.

The Deputy Regional Governors of P.E. of Western Macedonia, the Deputy Regional Governor for Finance and Legal Persons, the Deputy Regional Governor for Technical Works, the Authorized Advisor for the Civil Protection & Climate Change Sector, the Senior Guard Commander, the General Regional Police Director, the Regional Director of the Fire Department D.M., the Directors of Technical Services of the headquarters and the P.E., the President of the PED of Western Macedonia, the heads of Civil Protection of the P.E. as well as service factors.

At the meeting, information was provided on the provisions of law 5072/12-12-2023 on Civil Protection and in particular on the Regional Operational Coordination Bodies of Civil Protection, (P.E.S.O.P.P.) as well as information on the “Establishment of a Working Group for the formulation of a Natural Disaster Response and Crisis Management Plan in Western Macedonia”, by decision of the Regional Governor.

At the same time, a homogenization of procedures, roles and an agreement on the flow of work and decisions for dealing with catastrophic or dangerous phenomena, in the form of the implementation of technical projects, was carried out.
