The image of the fire, which broke out in the early afternoon of Monday (22/4) on the provincial road Paroikias – Naoussa, in Paros, has improved.
The Fire Department sounded the alarm, as very strong winds of almost 10 Beaufort were blowing.
According to the latest information, there are now only scattered outbreaks, which are being dealt with by the fire brigade.
The fire is burning a grassy area on the road to Marathi, a few kilometers from Parikia. Earlier, the flames reached just a few meters away from houses.
Message from 112 to residents
Due to the dangerous situation, a message was sent from 112 for people to move away and head for the beach.
“If you are in the area of Pyrgaki Parikia, turn away towards Paralia Parikia. Forest fire in your area. Follow the instructions of the authorities,” the 112 message read.
19 firefighters with 7 vehicles, volunteers, OTA water tankers rushed to the scene and tried, while a helicopter dropped water from the air.
