Gatsa’s letter to ELGA Larisa for fruitlessness and fruit drop in apple and apricot crops

And a second letter about the problems of farmers in the Municipality of Elassonas was sent by the Mayor of Elassonas, Mr. Nick. Gatsasto the Head of the ELGA Larisa branch Mr. Sp. Spyropoulosasking to carry out an autopsy to determine the extent of the problem in fruitlessness and fruit drop in apple and apricot crops.

The letter reads as follows:

SUBJECT: Fruiting and fruit drop in apple and apricot crops

In continuation of our letter no. 7017/12-04-2024 regarding the lack of fruit in almond cultivation, we received most reports from apple and apricot producers from the wider area of ​​the Municipality of Elassona and especially from the Municipal Units of Sarantaporos, Livadi with which informed us that the phenomena of lack of flowering, anthorrhoea due to non-fertilization as well as intense fruit drop are also present in the specific crops.

Like all producers, the phenomenon is due to the particularly unfavorable and unusual weather conditions (mild winter, unstable and cold weather during the flowering period) resulting in a reduction in the total expected production.

Empathizing with the concern of the specific producers, we ask that some level of your service conduct an autopsy to determine the extent of the problem and for your own relevant actions to compensate the producers of our Municipality.
