In the Industrial Area of ​​Larissa, the first hybrid greenhouse facility for medicinal cannabis is operating, which is part of the investment plan of Curity Pharmaamounting to 20 million Euros.

The greenhouse hybrid unit ensures fully controlled plant exposure to natural light and air for improved disease resistance, maximum yield and quality.

The first phase of the project which starts with the greenhouse unit of 5,000 sq.m. and with a production unit of 1,800 m2, opens new horizons for development in an area that was particularly affected by severe natural phenomena last year.

According to Manos Hatiras, who acts as president and managing director, Larissa was chosen because it has the appropriate conditions for the reproduction of the plant as well as well-trained human resources, both in the agricultural and pharmaceutical sectors. This is an investment of particular economic importance for the region and which will create many new jobs. of high salaries, which in the first phase of the project is estimated to be over 60.

What exactly will it produce?

The factory will produce 8 different medicinal cannabis products (inhaled or oral), which will cover the indications prescribed by the EOF and will enable doctors to prescribe the most appropriate one, based on the needs of patients with an emphasis on the treatment of chronic pain of cancer patients.

First sales are expected in the second half of 2025.

The medical cannabis market is also emerging in our country and it is estimated that the new medical cannabis production unit will be able to serve the needs of the domestic as well as the European market.
