The suppression of corruption phenomena at the center of the administration, with the first purges in the Directorates of Transport being a fact.

Not one, not two, but almost 50 employees of the General Directorate of Transport of the Attica Region, change their post by decision of the Regional Governor, as part of Nikos Hardalia’s initiative to put order in a service that has given many negative examples of corruption and mismanagement.

Thus, with rapid procedures, all seven directors of the General Directorate of Transport changed positions. Those charged with pending disciplinary offenses were transferred to other services of the Attica Region, while those prosecuted with charges of criminal offenses were placed on leave, even in cases where the opinion of the president of the Disciplinary Council was negative.

In the same direction, 20 department heads were transferred to other positions, of which six were for other services, as it turned out that their service records were not clean. Outside the Directorate of Transport, 12 employees were also accused of disciplinary offences, insufficient performance or indecent behavior towards the public.

“We are putting an end to opaque procedures and “bags”. By June, the procedures for the issuance of copies of driving and traffic licenses, as well as for the removal of withholdings, will be processed digitally only, while in the near future the same will happen with the transfer of vehicles as well as with the renewal of driving licenses, including digital medical records. At the same time, we are expanding the digitization of the procedures for obtaining a driver’s license in all the Regional Units of Attica, as in the next period the appointments – both for the theoretical and the practical examination – will be booked by the prospective drivers exclusively and only electronically”. emphasized Mr. Hardalias, after the end of the extraordinary meeting, with the Deputy Minister of Digital Governance, Konstantinos Kyranakis and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christina Alexopoulou.
