QUESTION TO THE MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY

Subject: Palliative care home

After long-term efforts by the associations of cancer patients in our country to create Palliative Care Structures, in December 2022 Law 5007/2022 was passed (Government Gazette A’ 241/23.12.2022: “Integrated Palliative Care Provision System – Arrangements for dealing with the pandemic of the coronavirus COVID-19 and the protection of public health and other emergency arrangements”), through which the institutional framework for the operation of an integrated palliative care system was created and defined for the first time and the possibility of creating the necessary structures that would they offer

According to article 6 par. 1 of the above law palliative care services are provided in Palliative Care Facilities (P.A.F.A.) which according to par. 2 of the same article “may be organized and operate at all levels of the health system, depending on the needs of the population to which they are addressed, and are divided into the following categories: a) home palliative care service units for outpatients, which operate at the level of primary health care, b) especially outpatient clinics or Day Palliative Care Centers

Hospitals (K.H.A.F.A.), which operate at the level of primary health care, c) Palliative Care Hospitals (X.A.F.A.) understood as secondary health care providers and d) Units Palliative Care of Patients (M.A.F.A.), in the context of the operation of hospitals or private clinics understood as secondary or tertiary health care providers”.

Given the completely unmet need of patients with end-stage cancer in our region, it was announced on Friday, April 19, 2024, by the Governor of Thessaly, Mr. Kouretas, during the 6th Oncology Conference of Central Greece, the initiative to create a Guest House Palliative Care (according to the model of “Galilea”).

So the Municipal Authority is asked

Given the need to enlist all of us in this great effort that is currently being attempted, does the Municipal Authority wish to support this initiative? If so, how, what actions can it take and what initiatives does it intend to undertake in support of the implementation of this important and emblematic project of our city, which concerns a large, multiple vulnerable and often invisible group of our fellow citizens?

QUESTION TO THE MUNICIPAL AUTHORITY

Subject: Cemetery Function

According to a press release of the Municipality of Larissa, burials will not take place on Sundays and holidays in the Old and New Cemetery of our city.

This is a completely sudden decision and without any justification for one extremely sensitive issue that concerns all our fellow citizens.

During our tenure and due to the pandemic, it was presented significant increase in funerals. However, the problem was successfully solved.

So the Municipal Authority is asked

1. What is the reason for your sudden decision?

2. There is an issue with staff compensation (overtime workers cemeteries);

3. Was another solution sought to solve the problem created?

Finally, we invite you to revoke your specific decision.

Yours sincerely,

The municipal councilors of the Larissa Alliance
