A large section of the Central Greece Motorway, which will bring Athens closer to Trikala, is being handed over to traffic today.
Today, Tuesday, April 23, the department is delivered by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis Lamia-Kalambaka of E65, of the highway that shortens the distances, bringing closer – among other things – Athens to Trikala.
On Monday, April 22, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, in charge of infrastructure, Nikos Tachiaos, published on social media a video showing the route from Kalambaka to the PATHE highway (Patra-Athens-Thessaloniki-Evzoni).
As you can see, this particular section of road is readyconsisting of two lanes of traffic in each direction, with LEA and dividing island.

In particular, the departments will be delivered today Lamia-Xyniada and Trikala-Kalambaka which will join the Xyniada-Trikala section, which has been in operation since 2017. Therefore, only the completion of the Kalambaka-Egnatia Road section (implementation progress over 70%) of E65 will remain, which when completed in its entirety, the journey from Lamia to Egnatia Odos it will last 1 hour and 30 minutes.
At the same time, with the E65 the Athens-Trikala journey will be completed in less than 3 hours and Athens-Karditsa in 2 hours and 30 minutes.

The project of E65 has a total length 238.5 km as it also concerns the management and maintenance of the department of A.Th.E. from Scarfeia to Rahes Fthiotida (total length 57 km.).
In full completion it will start at south from a semi-interchange on the A.TH.E. Motorway, at the height of Antheli, and will end in uneven junction with Egnatia Odos, in the Garden of Grevena.
