Petros Kokkalis chose yesterday’s Earth Day in order to announce the ballot for the June 9 European elections with the combination Kosmos. As head, Mr. Kokkalis is certainly a candidate. As pointed out in the announcement, the ballot was not drawn up based on recognition and tenure in party mechanisms. “People who have shown their abilities in science, culture, green movements, self-government, professional athletics participate in the European ballot of the World.” The candidates come from many regions of the country and the vast majority of them have in their CV actions related to awareness and activation for the protection of the environment.

THE CRASH

Ukraine’s air defense has also received a Greek dimension, after the publication of the Financial Times about pressures exerted on Athens and Madrid to send the Patriot or S-300 anti-aircraft systems that Greece and Spain may have. Government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis clarified yesterday that “no move will be made that would endanger the deterrence capability and air defense of our country”, while it also became clear that no pressure reached Athens at the level of the prime minister. After all, the Ukrainian needs are known, the pressures even more known, just as, however, the conditions set by Athens and revealed by “K” are also known, i.e. the replacement of the three S-300 arrays with one Patriot. However, yesterday, at the Council of Ministers under the High Representative Joseph Borel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis and the Deputy Minister of Defense Yiannis Kefalogiannis reminded that Greece is the first country per capita in granting ammunition for the use of artillery to Ukraine.

THE FACE

As is widely known, the official Church expressed its disagreement with the legalization of same-sex marriage from the first moment. This, however, does not mean that it is possible to allow the country’s temples to be turned into fields of self-righteousness and violent attacks on the occasion of the legislation in question, especially a few days before the preeminent holiday of love, Easter, nor that they will serve political purposes and aspirations, as we are also in a pre-election period. Or at least that’s the wishful thinking, if you prefer. Thus, the Archbishop of Athens Hieronymos (photo), in the aftermath of the attack received in a church by the member of the N.D. Aggeliki Delikari, a candidate for the Niki parliament, who slapped her, was quick to draw a dividing line yesterday, condemning the attacks on politicians. “The Church is love. She complains, she says her positions, she is firm in them, but we must not forget that love is the one that is above all, as well as kindness and tolerance. These incidents are also due to everyone’s education and the influence of some people who perceive many things of the Church as revenge. The Church, however, does not take revenge. She loves, but she doesn’t leave her positions,” said Mr. Hieronymos, among others. As is well known, the head of the Greek Church can advise, but his responsibility does not go beyond the boundaries of the Archdiocese of Athens. In other metropolises, even within a basin, the bishops may give a different line.

THE PLACE

This discussion continued yesterday and inside Parliament during the meeting of the Social Affairs Committee on the new bill of the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family. Nikos Papadopoulos, Niki’s rapporteur, actually went to cover up the violence against the ND MP. “There are incidents among young people, because the common feeling has really been hurt,” said Mr. Papadopoulos and continued by noting that “when the overwhelming majority of the Greek people are violated and silenced – as you tend to do with the latest bills – we will have Such things. We even saw inside the church believers starting to distribute cufflinks. Concentrate, we’ll see worse with what you’re doing.” Minister Sofia Zaharaki did not miss the opportunity and asked Mr. Papadopoulos to condemn the event.

THE ATTACK

As was logical, the conviction of Mr. Papadopoulos came with a footnote. “Of course we condemn the violence, but who causes the violence?” asked Mr. Papadopoulos, who then avoided the essence of the question and came to the conclusion that “the N.D. she will suffer annihilation from these things, her disguises, because she put the “sheep” of the patriot and the Christian, and you dare and go to the churches and they mock you and you still go”. If this is not a veiled incitement to violence, then what is?
