The Experimental Elementary School represented the Rhodopes at a Panhellenic Local History Conference

--

The 5th Experimental Primary School of Komotini participated in the 2nd Panhellenic Local History Student Conference entitled “Let me tell you about my place”, which was organized on April 17-20 by the Experimental High School of the University of Patras.

The participation of our school concerns the representation of a local custom/act of Eastern Rumilia, entitled “Camels and Divijides”. The event, which was implemented by the D1 department of the school, with the responsible teacher Anastasia Topatsi, was videotaped and presented at the conference online on the morning of Thursday, April 18, 2024, together with similar visual material (video and photos from the background of the filming).

The presentation took place in a festive atmosphere, with the live presence of several parents of the participating students in the school grounds, and received particularly flattering and enthusiastic comments.

The director of the school Eleftheria Siopi pointed out:
“We congratulate the young protagonists of the action and, apart from Ms. Topatsi, we also sincerely thank those who also participated in its implementation – namely our school’s visual artist Eftychia Vasiloudis, the teacher Ms. Stavroula Giannakidou and our vice-principal Athanasios Kolentzaridis.

We also owe special thanks to the Vice-Mayor of Culture of Komotini, Ioannis Kyriazis (for granting the premises of the Folklore Museum where the video recording took place), Museologist Mrs. Kelly Gogou, the Rhodope Youth Association, the Thracian Cultural Dance Association of Komotini (for granting the children’s traditional costumes ), and the school’s parent, Mr. Nikolaos Botrotso (for the video recording).

Overall, it was an organized action with a perfect aesthetic result, which represented and advertised our country in a Conference where a total of 394 schools (and more than 8,500 students and teachers) from all over Greece took part, and for this reason it deserves to be widely of local promotion and diffusion”
