Regarding the prevention of frauds and thefts against elderly people, police officer B. Georgios Moraitis of the Komotini Security Department informed the attendees of the 1st KAPI Komotini.
In his speech, he gave advice to the elderly, who are increasingly falling victim to fraud with a variety of tactics, such as pretending to be a car accident or even impersonating a representative of an organization or association. Ways to protect their homes were also explored, with the protection of doors and windows, as well as encouraging them to inform their neighbors when they were absent.
Examples of people who have been victims of fraud and theft were also analysed, with the ultimate goal of reducing the incidence of fraud and theft against elderly people.
He noted that for the service everything is important as information, urging them to inform the department even of fraud attempts or any phone calls they may receive, as the police have the means to cross-reference the source of the call.
