--

Primary school students took part in a rhetoric and debate competition organized by the Parents & Guardians Association of the 3rd Primary School of Komotini. It concerned 5th and 6th grade students from all the Primary Schools in the area.

The president of the school’s Parents’ Association, Anna Toumbalidou, informed that the president of the Greek chapter of Toastmasters Panagiotis Karanikas, a non-profit organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a global network of groups and an innovative educational program, came from Athens to the event. The present was also given by 2 members of the Board of the Rodopi Bar Association, who helped in the running of the competitions.

As Ms. Toumbalidis added, the participating students embraced this action, which is pioneering for the region. “The purpose is to learn to argue and to be able to even disagree, but politely and with rules”, emphasized the president.

He informed that the action had many months of preparation with a series of programs where there were informative actions every week.
