The TOEBs of Crete are protesting: “No to the privatization of water and the abolition of TOEBs”

The TOEB of Crete is proceeding with a protest, according to a statement they issued.

Analytically:

In a joint meeting of the representatives of all the TOEB of the P.E. Chania discussed the draft law of the Ministry of the Environment, which was submitted to public consultation for the establishment of a Unified Water Management Agency S.A. which concerns the region of Thessaly and according to the statements of the Minister of Rural Development and Food Mr. Avgenakis in the meetings he had with representatives of the TOEBs in Heraklion and Chania for the establishment of a Unified Water Management Agency of Crete, the TOEBs of the regional unit of Chania disagree with the plan Law of the Ministry of the Environment, the abolition of TOEBs and the establishment of an anonymous company.

The TOEBs of the prefecture, despite their problems, energy costs, outdated networks, the anachronistic law of 1958, manage and maintain their infrastructure and their tariff policies are decided by their members through the general assemblies.

It has been introduced by TOEB and the Region of Crete Energy Community to reduce energy costs.

We will resist the dismantling and surrender of the irrigation project as well as our infrastructure (pumping stations, boreholes, networks) worth millions.
We decide in the immediate prayer period to inform about our positions-proposals, the vice-region, the MPs and the mayors of the P.E. Chania.

Extraordinary general meetings will be convened to inform the members of our organizations.

Together with the other TOEB of Crete we will propose a protest show in the region of Crete in Heraklion.
