On Sunday, April 21, 2024, the 5th Panhellenic Conference “Teaching Science through Modern Technologies” was concluded with great success.

The conference was held under the auspices of the Interdepartmental Graduate Program “Science Teaching and Modern Technologies” of Democritus University of Thrace and the Teaching, Computational and Applied Mathematics and Micromagnetism Laboratory of the Department of Physics of the University of Athens.

More than 300 delegates attended the proceedings of the conference. The delegates were University students, primary and secondary education teachers, postgraduate and undergraduate students.

The General Theme of the conference was Ethics of Law in Education and Society. Papers were presented to the audience focusing on modern approaches to educational practice, as well as methods of utilizing information technology and communications, as a means of enhancing the educational process.

During the three days, 1 invited speech, 2 round tables, a tribute to the memory of Georgia Lepidakis and two (2) parallel sessions with 70 presentations were presented.

The manufacture, April 19, 2024 the invited speech of Ms. Nikolitsas Georgopoulou-Liantini Emeritus Professor of EKPA with the subject of her speech “The rules of Positive Law within and outside of Ethics and Natural Law as a basis for constant revision of Positive Law». Ms. Liantini emphasized the importance of digital transformation for a modern state and the steps that have been taken in our country in this direction. He developed in detail the actions of the Recovery Fund and answered questions from the delegates.

On SaturdayApril 20, 2024 the tribute was held in memory of Georgia Lepidakis, a postgraduate student of the DPMS with the title Sudden loss and bereavement: Empathy and sharing»with Professor as speakers Reverend Hatzifotiouand Dr. Eleftheria Kokkini. The coordinator of the tribute was Ms Reverend Hatzifotiou.

It was followed on Saturday afternoon by Roundtable on the subject of “Public Higher Education: Present and Future“, with the member of parliament from Kavala, N.D. Ms. Angeliki Delikarithe Member of Parliament of Ilias of SYRIZA Mr. Dionysios – Charalambos Kalamatianos, MP Kilkis of PASOK – KINAL, MP of Athens North sector of KKE Ms. Aphrodite Ktena, and coordinator the Professor Basil Chiado. The positions of the four MPs, as well as the discussion that followed, were constructive and of a very high level.

On Sunday, April 21, 2024 A Round Table was held on the topic “Public Primary and Secondary Education: Present and Future» with invited elite university students as well as Directors of Education of the prefectures of Drama and Kavala. The Professor of the Department of Administrative Science and Technology of DFTH participated Basilios Mardyristhe Assistant Professor of the Department of Social Work of the University of Athens Euripides Papadimitriouthe Director of Primary Education of Drama, Mr. Athanasios Dialektopoulosthe Director of Secondary Education of Drama, Mr. Spyridon Kiulanisthe Director of Primary Education of Kavala Ms. Athanasia Gaitanidouand the physicist Mr. Argyrios Mystakidis, former President of Carers of Kavala Prefecture. The round table was moderated by the professor Vasilis Tsiantos, Director of the Interdepartmental Master’s Program “Science Teaching and Modern Technologies”. All the speakers spoke about the modern and old problems that exist in primary and secondary education, which are transferred to higher education as well (problems in infrastructure, teacher training, parental pressure towards teachers, the lack of state-teacher cooperation – parents – society, etc.). The discussion that followed was lively and the duration of the round table exceeded three hours.

The discussions during the invited speeches, roundtables and presentations were deep and beyond all expectations. They created a scientific, friendly and highly intellectual atmosphere. The sessions were broadcast simultaneously from the conference’s YouTube channel and its Facebook page. The minutes of the conference will be issued on Friday, June 30, 2023.

We sincerely thank all the presenters, who were a source of inspiration, but also all those who attended the conference and gave cause for further thought and reflection with their questions and comments.
