The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, has reportedly been appointed in charge of Western Macedonia in view of the European elections. Use me, he declared from Bodosakeios on Friday, praising the Hospital of Ptolemaida and declaring his agreement to close one of the two ICUs of Mamatseios or Bodosakeios if it is and both sides agree.
A little earlier the member of parliament of Florina and former administrator Stavros Papasotiriou had mentioned that the ICU of Bosodakei is a model with the temporary administrator Yiannis Ketikidis talking about the sophisticated ICU system that exists only in the urban centers. He also emphasized that its existence is becoming imperative. The director of the nephrology clinic was even more clear and stated that “there is no need for two intensive care units in the county” giving the go ahead to the Minister who agreed to close one of the two if both sides agree.
What, of course, no one mentioned is that Bodosakeio’s model ICU with advanced systems has been closed for months, but this is probably a well-kept secret of the Hospital. Besides, as the minister said, Bodosakeio is the main hospital of Western Macedonia, so what does this mean for Mamatsio and the ICU of Kozani Hospital? The conclusion is yours to make .
As for the oncology unit, it is not only the radiation therapy department that is missing, which forces many oncology patients to move to other centers. The existing unit is not enough to cover all patients and they are moved for chemotherapy anyway.
