“Pilgrimage” with Jerome for the votes of the Church

--

Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Archbishop Hieronymos appear ready to break the ice in the relationship between the government and the church for the first time after the passing of the law for equality in civil marriage.

In particular, a joint visit is being planned by Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Archbishop Hieronymos for the next few days.

The prime minister and the archbishop plan to meet together at a church care facility for the elderly in Delesi, outside Thebes, next Friday.

The visit follows a rift in government-church relations following the passage of the Civil Marriage Equality Bill.

At the same time, at the Maximos Palace, they appear satisfied with the statement of the Archbishop, who emphasized that the Church does not take revenge and in this way released those who attacked government officials and parliamentarians of the ND in the previous period as in the recent incident with the slapping of a parliamentarian SW in Kavala.

Hieronymos goes to Pierrakakis

On Tuesday, April 23 and at 10:00 in the morning, the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece Hieronymos will visit – for the first time during Pierrakaki’s tenure – the Ministry of Education, where he will also have a meeting with the minister.

As announced by the Holy Archdiocese, this meeting will be of a ceremonial nature, however this meeting is of particular importance, as it takes place after the passing of the bill on same-sex marriages and also after the slap in a church on the MP of the New Democracy, Angeliki Delikaris .

It is recalled that in response to a journalist’s question about the attacks on politicians on the occasion of the passing of the law on same-sex couples, the Archbishop of Athens and all Greece, Mr. Ieronymos, emphasized that such events are not correct.

“The Church is love. She complains, she says her positions, she is firm in them, but we must not forget that love is the one that is above all, as well as kindness and tolerance” he noted and added:

“These incidents are also due to everyone’s education and the influence of some people who perceive many things of the Church as revenge. The Church, however, does not take revenge. She loves, but she doesn’t leave her positions.”
