The 1st Experimental High School of Larissa participated in the Panhellenic Hybrid Local History Student Conference “Let me tell you about my place” which was held in Patras on April 17-20.

The students of the 2nd Lyceum Zengou Anastasia – Paraskevi, Kotsalis Giorgos, Larissinou Christina, Mitromara Maria -Achillia and Nikoletta Pispa, with the coordinator of the teacher Karytsa Antigoni, PE02, on April 17 presented their work online in a video on the topic: “Big personalities of Larissa”.

The students presented important forms of letters and science that with their work contributed and offered a lot not only to Larissa but also to the rest of Greece, as many of them belonged to the Neohellenic Enlightenment movement and transmitted to the country the ideas of the European Enlightenment.

Clergymen such as Theoklitos Farmakidis and scholars such as Alexandros Elladios, Konstantinos Koumas, Ioannis Velaras and Ioannis Oikonomou Larisaios – Logiotatos during the Turkish rule were active in education, contributing significantly to the spiritual renaissance of Thessaly and to the survival of the Greek language.

This educational awakening takes place at the end of the 16th century, in the precursory period (1670-1750) of the Neo-Hellenic Enlightenment but also later with the assistance of enlightened teachers such as the above, who were called upon to ideologically prepare the Greek Revolution, awakening the enslaved Greeks in the period of the Turkish occupation and promoting the desire for freedom, with the active participation of some of them in Filiki Etairia.

The 1st Experimental High School of Larissa participates for the 2nd year in the National Thematic Network of Cultural Education entitled “Let me talk to you about my place” in the context of Sustainable Development, approved by the Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports for the school year 2023, in collaboration with 333 schools from all over Greece.
