The development of an optical fiber network that will bring high and ultra-high internet speeds is at the heart of the Greek government’s interest, with the Ministry of Digital Governance running in this direction in order to lead Greece into the new era. Although in recent years these efforts have intensified and investments by telecommunications providers are running faster, the truth is that the country is still far behind compared to the rest of the European countries and also to many countries worldwide. Copper has not yet been sufficiently replaced by fiber optic cables. The providers OTE-Nova-Vodafone and recently PPC, according to what their executives report, are running their investments for the installation of optical fibers, which is… a prerequisite for the existence of high speeds, however the overall penetration rate remains very low, of of the order of 30%-35%.
