Crimes perpetuated hostility that preoccupied public opinion from 1920 until the end of the 20th century, in real cases of revenge that took place in Crete, Mani and the rest of Greece, many of which shocked the whole of Greece, presents Panos Sombolosin his new book titled “Vendettas: vendetta crimes in Greece”released by Pataki publications.

“Vendetta means revenge. Let me take it, let us take the law into our own hands and not let justice do its job (…) In this book you will find more than 30 vendetta cases that took place in Crete, Mani and various other areas of country” said the journalist and author himself, during the presentation of the book.

The book presents a brief history of vendetta from ancient times to modern times, where the roots of the custom of self-justice can be traced.

“It describes various cases of vendetta in Crete and throughout Greece. I knew because I am Cretan. Not only families, entire generations have been destroyed because of the vendetta,” said actress Maria Tzompanaki, who participated in the presentation.

The event took place at the Athens Concert Hall where well-known journalists, politicians and artists were present.
