Lavrio-Maroussi 76-90 – Basketball – Greece

With ease, Marousi defeated the local team in Lavrio 90-76 for the play outs of the Stoiximan Baskjet League and next Saturday against PAOK in Pylaia they play the “final” for the playoffs.

Thornton and Moore gave Lavrio a small lead at the start of the match, but there Hill “armed” at that point and with personal points led the “yellow” 11-0 run for 10-19. Woodard’s three-pointer brought the double score for Nikos Vetoula’s team and a 5-0 run with the same players made it 14-27 at the end of the first period.

Briscoe made it 17-32 at the start of the second period and kept +13 to +15 for the visitors in the home team’s attempt to reduce through the racket. With a 4-0 run, Maroussi led 38-24 and with Iordanos in the racket with +15 to end the half at 30-45 for the northern suburbs team.

Thornton helped in a 5-0 run for Lavrio and 35-45 for Costa Mexa’s team, but Rou Nicolaidis’ three-pointer brought +133 for Maroussi. Hill, however, took action and brought the score 67-81 and Nikolaidis +15, putting an end to the match which finally ended at 76-90 with Hill’s three-pointer.
