The show “The Great Inquisitor” will be presented for three nights in Patras, at the “Michanourgeio” Cultural Center, with the support of the Region of Western Greece. The performances are scheduled for Friday 26/4 at 21:15, as well as for Saturday 27/4 and Sunday 28/4 at 20:30. Starring: Gerasimos Davaris, Georgia Massara, Anastasia Panagiotopoulou

The Great Inquisitor is one of the chapters in the novel The Brothers Karamazov. Inside a cell, in 14th century Spain, during the darkest years of the Inquisition, the Jesuit priest will speak against the arrested Jesus and in the name of love for humanity, the word of great misanthropy. He accuses Jesus of giving people the gift of freedom of conscience, a gift that in the hands of the weak and depraved, in his opinion, human kind, becomes a burden and is transformed into a weapon of destruction. All that remains for the Inquisitor is to take the Purple and the Sword of Caesar and take away man’s freedom, so that he can save him from himself, leading him to happiness. And all this in the name of love for humanity. It is the first time in the history of literature that we hear Power and Violence speak in the name of love for man, with such clarity of arguments and with such a sense of justice about the necessity of its mission…
