Menios Fourthiotis and Kostas Minaretzis are the presenter and the publisher accused of extortion in Thessaloniki.

Kostas Minaretzis was arrested with the spontaneous procedure and is accused of demanding extortion money on behalf of Menios Fourthiotis. According to reports, a criminal prosecution was brought against them for attempted extortion by complicity and serially.

Kostas Minaretzis was referred to be tried at the Autoforo Three-member Criminal Court of Thessaloniki (the case was postponed until tomorrow), while Menios Fourthiotis was not detected in the context of Autoforos. There had been two previous complaints, according to which the above two persons they were demanding sums of money to withdraw publications related to their court cases.

The two extortion cases they are accused of

A 46-year-old citizen complained that at the beginning of the month he met with 39-year-old Menios Fourthiotis after the mediation of 56-year-old Kostas Minaretzis. After the agreement between them fell apart, an agreement that provided for monetary remuneration, Menios Fourthiotis and Kostas Minaretzis they are accused of demanding financial compensation not to defame him.

Following the victim’s complaint, the 56-year-old presenter Kostas Minaretzis was arrested in the early hours of Monday. The second case against Menios Fourthiotis again concerns a case of attempted extortion and defamation. A 44-year-old complained to the Extortion Prosecution Department of the Thessaloniki Police that he had agreed with Menios Fourthiotis to advertise him on the internet for a monetary fee.

When the complainant did not pay an installment of 2,480 euros, Menios Fourthiotis – according to the case file – threatened the 44-year-old to defame him and demanded that he be paid the amount of 14,880.

According to a statement from the General Police Directorate of Thessaloniki, “the details of another accomplice were identified, who participated in another case of attempted extortion and defamation. Police officers of the Department of Prosecution of Extortionists of the Directorate of Security of Thessaloniki filed a case file against two citizens aged 56 and 39 for attempted extortion with complicity and defamation, while the first was arrested at the limits of the autoforo”.

“In particular, a 46-year-old citizen complained to the above Service that at the beginning of this month he met in eastern Thessaloniki with the 39-year-old, after the mediation of the 56-year-old, in order to help him in a personal matter. After an unsuccessful agreement between them, which included a monetary fee, the 39-year-old assisted by his accomplice, demanded sums of money in order not to defame him in electronic and printed media. The latter was found and arrested this morning and will be taken to the competent Prosecutor.

“Additionally, police officers of the same Service filed another case against the aforementioned 39-year-old for the same crimes, following a summons submitted by a 44-year-old citizen. According to his complaint, the victim and the complainant met about ten (10) days ago in the area of ​​Ampelokipi and agreed in order to help him professionally, by advertising him via the internet, for a sum of money. Due to non-payment of one installment (2,480 euros) of the pre-agreed amount, the perpetrator threatened the 44-year-old and his friend who had mediated so that they could come into contact, that he would defame them, while he subsequently increased the monetary claim to (14,880) euros. the announcement concludes.
