The head of the majority minority, Yiannis Smyrniotis, raised the issue of the completion of the projects implemented in Tripoli

Mr. Smyrniotis described the city as “impassable”, arguing that, due to the many projects that are delayed in completion, there cannot be a smooth operation of the Municipality and “we cannot talk about traffic”.

“There are always mistakes and obstacles”, answered the responsible Deputy Mayor, Mr. Kanellopoulos, while, referring to the last two months, he said that there are financial problems but the projects continue at a very satisfactory pace, in terms of construction progress.

Yes, Mr. Kanellopoulos described the long-standing project in Manjunio as more problematic, especially with regard to the surrounding area, while regarding the swimming pool he stated that “in June it will be finished”, just like the reconstruction in Basiakou square.

The Mayor of Tripoli he reiterated that the problems that exist in public works are not something new, nor does Tripoli present an unprecedented image. In addition, he asked Mr. Smyrniotis – rhetorically… – if he knows when the projects will be paid for, from the Public Investment Program for example, while he also touched on the delays in the disbursement of money from the NSRF for European programs.

In addition, Mr. Mayor said that it is very important what the “flow” of funding will be – and through the new NSRF, if projects are transferred there -, he mentioned that the projects have been transferred, by default, to the Public Investment Program, while he disagreed with the designation “impassable” for the city.

(p.s. The dialogue between the two leaders could be “shaped” as follows: Smyrniotis: Tell us when the projects will end: Tzioumis: Tell me when the funding will continue, uninterrupted, and I will tell you!)

“The projects are all continuing and will be completed in 2024 – I don’t know what will happen with Manjunio”, asserted Mr. Tzioumis, stressing that these issues have been re-discussed many times.
