The same four persons were elected by the municipal council of Ioannina on Monday afternoon, to represent the Municipality of Ioannina on the Board of Directors of the Compulsory Solid Waste Management Association, after the cancellation by the Decentralized of the previous decision of the municipal council.
The opposition proposed as its representative Giorgos Arletos, who was voted by all of them, except for Olys Tsoumani who voted white (it should be noted here that in the previous meeting G. Arletos had not been voted by the Kalogiannis faction), while the proposal of majority in the persons of Thomas Bega, Makis Chrysostomou and Tatiana Kalogiannis, supported by the factions of the mayor and Mrs. Kalogiannis, with those of Mr. D. Papageorgiou, N. Gonda and P. Koloka to abstain, while Mrs. Tsoumani voted white.
Before the voting process, the mayor made the following statement: “The decision of the Decentralized Administration, in the opinion of our municipal authority, is wrong because it is not legally and constitutionally acceptable for the minority to have a say and interfere with the representatives, apart from the election of its representatives of the majority. By voting twice for the same administration of the same association, we have the paradox of the minority participating in two electoral bodies. We politically decide not to appeal the decision of the Decentralized Administration to the committee of article 152 and then if necessary to justice because we know that this will be a time-consuming process and we do not wish in any case to be the ones who will delay the completion of the process for the election of the Bureau of the Waste Management Agency. We chose to repeat the process at the city council for speed. However, the House should know that at the moment there is also an objection pending in the Decentralized Administration in relation to the representatives of the municipality of Artaia, and all the municipalities will have to decide together whether we will proceed with the Body elections before the decision of the Decentralized Administration is issued Administration on this objection or not”.
The opposition through Mr. Papageorgiou insisted that the decision of Decentralized vindicates him for the criticism he made when he said that the majority has no right to nominate a member of the opposition. The decision of the Decentralized, however, does not say this…
