An elderly woman waited for hours for an ambulance to pick her up and take her to a hospital in Heraklion. The ambulance never came…

The incident was recorded on Monday morning and according to the Dia-SOS-te Mesara page. the woman fell and suffered a double fracture of the pelvis. From 10 in the morning to 6 in the afternoon the patient was waiting for an available ambulance but it was not found!

The fall of an elderly woman this morning, Monday, April 22, led her to the Moira Health Center, accompanied by her children, where – as her family informed us of the incident – it was found that she has been seriously injured, with a double fracture of the pelvis and must be transferred immediately to Heraklion Hospital.

However, from 10 in the morning when the incident happened and until 6 in the afternoon, an available ambulance was not found (!), with the unfortunate woman suffering from pain while waiting to be transferred to Heraklion.

The incident reflects the serious deficiencies in the primary health sector and the great needs that exist, despite the honorable – sometimes heroic! – efforts of the staff, workers at the Moira Health Center including…
