Aesthetics of ugliness that minorities are trying to impose on the city.. That’s what the Mayor of Ioannina Thomas Begas called, what is happening with the uncontrolled posting of posters, the placing of banners and the inscription of slogans..

Characteristically, even statues are desecrated from time to time.

The issue of respect in the public space was highlighted on the occasion of the distribution to the parties approved by the Municipal Council in view of the European elections.

Former Mayor Dimitris Papageorgiou was the one who first pointed out that some of the parties do not respect the agreements made with the Municipality and then referred to the images of anarchy due to posters, slogans and others.

Mayor Thomas Begas spoke about a very difficult and serious issue which is not easy to deal with.

He asked for the cooperation of all agencies and made it known that he will ask the heads of all factions to discuss it and exchange thoughts on ways to deal with it.

“I have spoken about the aesthetics of ugliness from minorities.. The matter is not easy to be dealt with by the Municipality alone” the Mayor characteristically underlined.
