“The Ministry of National Economy and Finance, through the Deputy Minister Mr. Petralia, committed today in the Plenary Session of the Parliament, in response to my topical question, that a legislative or interpretive initiative is immediately expected from the Ministry to find an appropriate solution to relieve the thousands of pensioners, the who continue to work and are in a difficult position, as the government demands that they return, retroactively, thousands of euros from their salaries, as unduly paid”, says Frangiskos Parasiris, Member of Parliament of Heraklion of PASOK-Movement for Change, in a statement.

During his presentation, in the Plenary Session of the Parliament, Frangiskos Parasiris, emphasized that information is needed regarding the actions that the Ministry may take, in the direction of redressing the injustice for employed pensioners in the bodies of the State and the General Government. And, of course, whether he intends to take a specific initiative, so that the salaries considered to be unduly paid until now are not searched for and not even imputed, with an amendment to Article 11 of Law 4354/2015. He emphasized, at the same time, that “thousands of retired workers have fallen into despair, after having fought a costly and soul-destroying legal battle, as the government demands that they retroactively return tens of thousands of euros due to the subsequent change in their salary scale. Specifically, the General Accounting Office of the State, in accordance with the circular of the Auditing Conference of 09-06-2023 which refers to par. 4 of article 11 of Law 4357/15 claims that if a main pension has been awarded – based on the total insurance time – to employee of the public sector who wishes to continue working after his retirement, he should be placed in the salary scale of a newly appointed employee”, making special reference to the employees of this category and to DEVAHI.

The Deputy Minister of Finance, during his retrial, reiterated “that he agrees with the context of Mr. Parasiris’ intervention, pointing out that in the next period a fair solution will be sought for the workers and that in a short period of time he will inform the Parliament about this”.
