With African dust, mud showers and high temperatures the first day of the week dawned, while the predictions for Easter are not positive.

According to OPEN’s meteorologist, Clearchos Marousakis a barometric low in the interior of Africa will bring very warm air masses and increased concentrations of African dust particularly in central and northern Greece and specifically in the Peloponnese, Crete and the Cyclades the eastern and southern Aegean.

The rains will not be absent and due to the African dust there will be mud showers. The mercury in northern Crete today and tomorrow will locally reach 35 degrees Celsius.

The weather in Attica and Thessaloniki

In Attica the temperature will range from 11 to 24 degrees Celsius and the winds will blow up to 6 Beaufort.

Already from the morning hours there are mud showers. The scene is similar in Thessaloniki where the muddy rains will start in the afternoon while the temperature will be at normal levels for the season.

The transfer of dust will continue on Tuesday with the atmosphere being stifling while several rains are also expected.

The weather during Holy Week

As for the weather during the Easter period, the weather conditions during the Holy Week will be unsettled while it is possible Great Saturday and Sunday to see a wave of bad weather with rains while it is extremely possible that the temperature will also drop to normal levels for the season.

According to Clearchos Marousakis, between 12:00 and 14:00 on Easter Sunday, the showers are especially visible in central and northern Greece.
