The event dedicated to the missing people of the Cyprus tragedy of 1974 was held on Saturday in the packed hall of GEHA. The event was organized by the Association of Cypriots of the Prefecture of Larissa, in collaboration with the Municipality of Larissa, the Federation of Cypriot Organizations of Greece and GEHA and was held under the auspices of Holy Metropolis of Larissa and Tyrnavos.

Mrs. Maria Galini, the wife of the late Hero Erotokritos Galini, his son Mr. Giorgos Galinis and his grandson Andreas Theodorou were present and spoke. A related short film was also shown.
The story of the late Erotokritos Galinis and Prodromos (Makis) Chrysostomos has a shocking plot very different from all the others, which motivated the students of Aglantzias High School to highlight it through a short film under the title “Klatses dkyoloitizias = Different socks” . The documentary presents the true story of the children of two missing persons from the Turkish invasion, Giorgos Galinis from Kliros and Gavriil Chrysostomos, a refugee from occupied Kythrea, who were born shortly after the black summer of 1974. There is also reference to the cold-blooded murder of a total of 38 soldiers from the Turks by Mr. Kostas Artemiou from Klirou, who miraculously escaped execution.
The event was welcomed by the mayor of Larissa, Mr. Athanasios Mamakos and the president of OKOE, Mr. Giorgos Syllouris. The speech of the Metropolitan of Larissa and Tyrnavos, Mr. Hieronymos, who closed the event after the GEHA choir stole the show with the wonderful voices that performed anti-occupation songs, was touching. Also present were: The President of the Municipal Council Mrs. Garifallias Karystianou, the Deputy Mayor of Education and Sports Mr. Iraklis Gergiokas, representative of the Commander of the 1st Army and the former Chief of the National Guard Mr. Dimokritos Zervakis and many representatives of associations and events.
