Another incident of targeting a politician who supported the bill for same-sex couples occurred on Sunday, a few hours after the slap attack by a member of the “Niki” party on Angeliki Delikaris.

More specifically, a priest in Patras verbally attacked the Deputy Minister of Transport, Christina Alexopoulou, with exhortations and curses accompanied by homophobic delirium, because of her decision to vote in favor of the bill for same-sex couples.

As reported by local media, the priest’s verbal attack against the member of parliament Kavala of the ND occurred during the trisago in the procession in memory of the paternal victims of Turkish brutality, a fact she confirmed herself with her statements on a website.

It is recalled that Christina Alexopoulou finally voted in favor of the bill for equality in civil marriage and childbearing by same-sex couples, despite the leaks about her abstention.

Angeliki Delikari’s targeting of same-sex couples

That’s it the second incident of targeting a political figure, as on Sunday morning ND MP, Angeliki Delikari, was slapped by a former MP candidate of the far-right “Niki” party, inside a holy temple, also because of her decision to stand in favor of the law on the marriage of same-sex couples. Attack that it was condemned by all the parties of the democratic arc.

“We unequivocally condemn the attack received by New Democracy MP Angeliki Delikari inside a holy temple. Such behaviors are aimed at intimidating the free conscience of parliamentarians and harm democracy itself.” mentions, in his announcement, the SYRIZA.

“The handcuffing against ND MP Angeliki Delikaris in a church in Kavala is a completely reprehensible act. Temples are places of worship of the religion of love, not of hatred & violence. Such actions have nothing to do with the church and its teachings.” Thanasis Glavinas, press representative, emphasizes for his part PASOK-Movement for Change.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the Press Office of his KE KKE states: “The KKE condemns the attack received by ND MP, Angeliki Delikari, by a member of the NIKI party in a church. Such actions, which refer to obscurantist practices, cannot be treated as random or isolated events, but as the product of a more comprehensive reactivity of the urban political system, fueling corresponding perceptions and behaviors.”
