Nikos Pappas was in Patras and Agios for the first time on Saturday afternoon as a SYRIZA MEP candidate. The former basketball player with the great career and businessman had the opportunity to come to a first, more relaxed, acquaintance contact with Achaios.
Nikos Pappas moved with particular ease and the answers he gave to all those with whom he discussed were characterized by the well-known directness and honesty that he possesses.
On the sidelines of the visit, he made statements to “P” about the party’s goals, the importance of the European elections in June, but also about his decision to get involved in politics.
Regarding the reason he is involved in politics, he emphasized: “I don’t want to stay idle on my sofa. Through politics I want to help the lives of many. To lend a helping hand to improve the lives of those who need it”. Furthermore, believes that young people must be motivated to participate: “I think it’s time for young people to get up from the cafeteria and their homes. I am also young, I can feel the disappointment that exists, the young must also understand that a lot is at stake in the European Parliament, decisions will be made that are important for our lives and our future. Young people must also come forward.”
However, his statements did not lack clear points for the New Democracy government. Speaking sharply, he said about the meaning he wants the European elections to acquire: “Our goal is to send a message: This Mitsotakis regime should finally fall. A message has to be sent in this election, it’s a good opportunity.”
In closing, he expressed his optimism, considering that the party’s ballot is promising. He concluded: “In sports I had learned to win titles, I intend to do the same in politics. I never go for a good presence. I play to win, whether it’s politics or sports or tabletop with my friends.”
