Perdikes – Easter activity of the Association for 2024

As part of the Easter events, the Association of Grevenians of Kozani O AEMILIANOS is again this year holding on Wednesday, April 24 at 6:00 p.m. in the hall of the dance club (S. Blioura 2, opposite the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos), the established and successful event in recent years (since 2016) of the construction of Easter Partridges.

Perdikes are Easter red eggs from the region of Grevena, which before being dyed have gone through the process of painting (embroidery or decoration) from beeswax with the special tool the contuli.

It is a folk art that the creators (housewives) embroider (paint) the eggs inspired mainly by nature, creating designs symmetrical, geometric and not only, where the passion and imagination of each housewife is captured and produces every time a beautiful and separate creation.

Those who wish to take part in the event should bring unboiled eggs and their contili (if they have them).

This demonstration of the technique of painting eggs, which revives a part of the cultural heritage of the Grevena region, will take place again this year as part of the Association’s planned events for 2024.

The President: Lotsios Athanasios
The Secretary: Dagas Nikolaos
