By decision of assignment of the governor of Attica, Nikos Hardaliato the Territorial Authority of the Association of Municipalities of South Athens (SYDNA), in the context of the Integrated Spatial Investment (IIP) that is part of the “Attiki Program 2021 – 2027”, available resources amounting to 25.2 million euros for the implementation of over 30 projects and actions related to entrepreneurship, tourism and culture in the municipalities of Alimos, Kallithea and Palaio Faliro.

Specifically, Nikos Hardalias stated that “after Athens and Piraeus, two Municipalities – to which through the “Attiki Program 2021 – 2027” we allocated a total of over 184 million euros for important infrastructure projects, the Association of Municipalities of South Athens takes its turn .

We are strengthening the tripartite local entrepreneurship, tourism and culture for Kallithea, Alimos and Paleo Faliro – three municipalities in South Athens with indisputable cultural, geographical and environmental advantages – in order to put into practice everything we have committed to the citizens of Attica. And we continue next week with the rest of the municipalities of Attica”.

According to the regional governor of Attica, the main concern is sustainable urban development, with the upgrading of basic infrastructure for the quality of life of citizens, the support of the new generation and the social state.

In this context, among other things, an Entrepreneurship Support Center is created, as well as start-up business clusters, buildings are upgraded with energy efficiency, “green” routes are created and projects are immediately launched that support local employment, promote social entrepreneurship and improve everyday life of citizens with disabilities.

At the same time, the two main pillars are being strengthened: tourism and culture, focusing on the huge development potential of the coastal front.

In particular, from the 25.3 million euros:

  • 8.59 million euros, will be given to strengthen the competitiveness and extroversion of the regional economy (such as the strengthening of research and innovation, the exploitation of the benefits of digitization, the development and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises, etc. ).
  • 9.86 million euros will be given to strengthen regional economic, social, environmental and cultural development and cohesion (such as bioclimatic upgrades in selected municipal buildings, the creation of smart e-culture applications, e-tourism and strengthening of sustainable mobility, the supply and installation of an irrigation system in green spaces, the construction of rainwater management projects and the development of a system for monitoring environmental parameters, etc.).
  • 6.55 million euros will be given to promote regional social cohesion through the strengthening of mechanisms and services to support human resources, employment, education, health care, socio-economic inclusion, equal opportunities and addressing the risks of poverty and exclusion (improving the lives of people with disabilities, access to employment and activation measures for all, strengthening Lifelong Learning centers, balanced participation of the sexes in the labor market, social inclusion of people at risk, equal access to quality social and health services, etc.).

For his part, the mayor of Alimos, Andreas Kondylis, stated: “The bet is to quickly and efficiently move forward with this big project, for which we are judged and will be judged. It is a big responsibility to manage and absorb quickly, so that we can all move forward – together – for cities with better infrastructure, for societies with greater cohesion and opportunities at work.”

“We will respond in the best way, so that this money can be used for the benefit of society, in necessary projects to upgrade the lives of our citizens” said the mayor of Kallithea Kostas Askouniswhile referring to Mr. Hardalia he underlined: “I am sure that we will have the undivided support of all the officials of the Region, but also yours personally, because you are the person who comes from the bowels of the Self-Government”.

“The money that will be given will take place. Don’t worry, we know the job, we will fight it to the end” said the mayor of Palaio Faliro characteristically to the regional governor Yannis Fostiropoulos, referring to the need to submit mature studies. And he noted: “There are not enough resources, we all know that. The studies have been done with great care, so I believe that we will very quickly be ready to have completed the projects in order to achieve absorbency.”
