Game 1 of her play offs Euroleague is just around the corner with Panathinaikos welcoming Maccabi to the packed OAKA as the Israelis got the ticket from the play ins (dominantly dominating Baskonia).
Maccabi competes in neutral Belgrade due to the war in the Gaza Strip with her coach and old acquaintance of the Greens Odent Katas to talk about the battles with his former team.
“We are excited. It will be a … crazy atmosphere in OAKA and this is a challenge for us,” said the Israeli, who as a player wore the shirt of the “greens” while also being the coach of the “greens”. Katas added: “The two teams know each other well, there is a lot of anticipation, but it is the play-offs and we are happy to be involved. We still have some time to prepare.”
Katas then explained: “There’s not a lot we need to change in our game in terms of how it plays Panathinaikos. It is simple, but has a lot of quality. We should take into account what each player can do and take a step forward to be more aggressive. It won’t be easy with the atmosphere we’ll meet at OAKA, but we’re looking forward to it and so are the players.” Katas concluded: “For sure both teams will make some tactical adjustments and add some things, but the teams that have come this far, at this level, do a lot of things well and don’t need to change the way they play.”
