The atmosphere is expected to be stifling until about the middle of the week, due to the African dust which will “cover” a large part of the country, but also the high temperatures that will prevail, as meteorologist Tasos Arniakos pointed out, speaking to CNN Greece.

“After the north winds, cold and snow of the weekend, spring returns with south winds that will bring African dust and mud rains on Tuesday (23/4)” he said characteristically.

The winds are expected to reach 6-7 or even eight Beaufort, pushing the mercury up to 30 degrees Celsius, mainly in northern Crete.

The concentrations of African dust, according to Mr. Arniakos, will reach their peak on Tuesday (23/4), and will not be of great intensity and extent, mainly in the southern and eastern regions of the country.

On Wednesday (24/4), however, it is estimated that the dust will gradually move away as the winds turn to the northwest, which will reach up to six Beaufort.

“This will have the consequence that the atmosphere in the west will clear and the temperature will slowly drop to normal levels for the season, i.e. 23 and 24 degrees Celsius.”

On Thursday (25/4) local storms of short duration are expected mainly in the northern Ionian, Epirus, Western Continent and possibly Macedonia and Thrace. The winds will be westerly up to seven Beaufort, with the mercury reaching 24 to 25 degrees Celsius.

On Friday (26/4), Saturday of Lazarus (27/4) and Sunday of Palms (28/4) we do not seem to have strong weather phenomena with rains and storms.

The weather forecast from EMY

In the rest of the country, sparse clouds temporarily thicker.

Meteorological conditions favor the transport of African dust with increased concentrations in the atmosphere.

The winds it will blow east northeast 4 to 6 and in the south southeast 7 to 8 Beaufort. From the afternoon gradually in the west they will turn to northwesterly 4 to 6 and in the Ionian locally 7 Beaufort.

THE temperature will rise mainly in the west and south. It will reach 21 to 23 degrees in the north, 24 to 27 in the rest of the country and locally 29 to 30 degrees Celsius in northern Crete.
