Regarding the violence against Kostas Gargalas, a meeting of the Volos municipal council was scheduled for noon on Monday 22/04, however it never took place, since the councilors of the majority faction were absent-absent, as were the councilors of the other factions, while present from this point of view, only the mayor Achilleas Beos and the chairman of the Board of Directors, Thanos Theodorou.

After the (apparent) absence of a quorum was established, Mr. Theodorou announced that the meeting would not take place, with the matter being postponed for discussion in a subsequent procedure, as provided by law. If a quorum is not recorded there, then a third meeting will follow, without requiring a quorum of the body.

After the meeting was not held, the head of the majority faction “Alliance for Volos”, Nikos Papapetros, spoke in his statement of an artificial lack of quorum, while he noted that the Decentralized Administration will be requested to take measures regarding the incident of violence .

Characteristically, Mr. Papapetros said the following: “The convergence of today’s municipal council took place after a proposal-application of our faction, signed by 15 members on the well-known issue of violence against our colleague, a municipal councillor. We were invited for today, even though it was known to the president of the municipal council that there was pending trial of a case that is ongoing in the single-member minor court of Volos, which is why most of the municipal councilors who had been called as witnesses would obviously be absent.

“Regardless of this, we predicted that the specific issue was not going to be discussed according to the known tactics that have been followed in the past. When a request is made by the minority, the advisors of the majority should not be present, in order not to have an artificial quorum. It is certain that – it is also the duty of the chairman of the board of directors to call a second meeting, where we assume that there will be no quorum again, artificially of course, and he will come to a third meeting, where his presence is sufficient for the quorum 1/3 of the municipal councilors, so it will be discussed.

“The specific issue for which we requested the convergence of the municipal council is major and our faction will stand with almost all of its municipal councilors, denouncing the incident and requesting that measures be taken by the secretary of the Decentralized Administration.”
