A speed race that took place in Sri Lanka on Sunday (21/04) afternoon was stained with… blood.
And that’s because one of the cars participating in the race that took place in the city of Diyatalawa went off the track and crashed into a crowd of people, as a result of which seven people lost their lives and 20 others were injured!
According to the local police spokesman, Nihal Thalduwa, among the dead are four event officials, while three of the injured – who were taken to the hospital in the city, which is located about 180 km east of the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo – are in critical condition…
It is worth noting that the race in question was organized by the Sri Lankan army and the country’s Motor Sports Organization, while approximately 45,000 spectators watched it.
