In the foreground, the Peloponnese Region brings back the road axis Lefktro – Megalopolis – Andritsaina – Epicurios Apollon – Ancient Olympia in the context of the need but also the possibility of the next day for the region after delignitization.

The above news was made known by the mayor of Andritsaina – Krestena Sakis Baliukos, when during last Monday’s work meeting on the reconstruction of Ilia, he announced that a meeting will be called – in which he has been invited to participate as well as the mayor Arch. Olympias, Aris Panagiotopoulos, in Megalopolis.

It is a road axis that connects the central Peloponnese (Megalopolis area) with its northwestern part in Ancient Olympia, and brings this area to a shorter distance from Pyrgos and the port of Katakolo.

The feasibility study of the specific project was prepared in the context of the lignitization program, in order to neutralize the negative effects on the wide area of ​​Megalopolis and to give other development perspectives. Essentially, we are talking about a new high-quality road layout starting from the uneven intersection of the “Moreas” highway in Lefktro – in the area of ​​Megalopolis -, which initially moves west and then northwest passing near Epicurios Apollo, from Andritsaina, Alifeira, contributing to the end of the road Tripoli – Archaia Olympia – Pyrgou in the Aspra Spitia settlement.

We remind you that in fact, the construction of the specific road axis and more specifically the road connection Pyrgos – Megalopolis was also included in a series of proposals for the economic regeneration of the Megalopolis area, after the complete termination of lignite production, which was presented by the IME research text / GSEVEE with the signature of L. Vatikiotis.
