The registered unemployed in Western Greece reached 74,092 last month March 2024 according to data from the DYPA register. In March 2023, the registered unemployed were 77,513, i.e. we have a decrease of 4.4%.

Compared to the last month of February 2024, the registered unemployed in Western Greece were 75,848, i.e. in March we had a decrease of 1,756 or a 2.3% decrease.

For the month of March, across the country, the registered unemployed amounted to 976,373 people and were reduced by 5.7% compared to 2023.

The biggest decrease in registered unemployed in March was in Attica (8.6%), Central Greece (6%), Central Macedonia (5.8%), Peloponnese (5.7%), and Thessaly (5%).

Among the Regions, Attica and Central Macedonia register the largest number of registered persons, which amounts to 297,316 people (percentage of 30.5%) and 184,080 persons (percentage of 18.9%) respectively.

According to the DYPA, 479,244 people (percentage 49.1%) are registered in the register for a period equal to or longer than 12 months and 497,129 (percentage 50.9%) are registered in the DYPA register for a period less than 12 months.

Men amount to 345,445 people (35.4% rate) and women amount to 630,928 people (64.6% rate). The 30-44 age group gathers the largest number of registrants among the age groups, amounting to 313,245 people (32.1%).

The Secondary education level gathers the largest number of registered among the educational levels which amounts to 467,784 people (47.9%).

The total number of subsidized unemployed people, for the month of March 2024, (refers to the number of beneficiaries paid within the corresponding month) amounts to 198,858 people, of which 138,172 (percentage 69.5%) are common unemployed and other categories of subsidized unemployed and 60,686 (30.5%) are seasonal tourist occupations. Men amount to 89,163 (percentage of 44.8%) and women to 109,695 (percentage of 55.2%).

Of the total number of subsidized unemployed people, 126,269 (63.5%) are general workers, 3,171 (1.6%) are builders, 60,686 (30.5%) are seasonal tourist workers, 7,666 (3.9%) are seasonal others (agricultural), 913 (percentage 0.5%) are teachers and 153 (percentage 0.1%) are others.
